Gulf Coast Welcomes New Addiction Therapist

Gulf Coast would like to welcome our new drug and alcohol addiction therapist, Madeline (Maddie) Guarino. Maddie brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience working with people who have drug and alcohol addiction problems. Debbie Ross, Executive Director of Gulf Coast states, “We are so excited having Maddie on board. Her knowledge and experience add another dimension to our drug rehab program.”

Gulf Coast is a world-class drug rehab facility that is neat, clean and comfortable. Our 90 percent success rate means that there is hope and a solution for you or your loved one’s drug addiction or alcohol addiction problem.

FDA looking to stop Prescription Pain Medication deaths

In 2007, drug abuse overdoses killed more people in Wyoming County, West Virginia than car accidents, homicides and suicides combined according to Scott Finn of West Virginia Public Broadcast. In 2005 the number of accidental drug abuse overdoses in the United States doubled to more than 22,000. Reports claim that prescription pain medication is to blame.

As a result the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is taking action. FDA spokesperson, According to Judy Leon an FDA spokesperson, “These drugs (prescription pain medication) will be required to have a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy, what we call REM, to insure that the benefit of the drugs continue to outweigh the risks.” What the new REM plan could require is for patients to take part in drug testing and also that doctors do pill counts where patients must bring in any unused pain medication. The REM plan could also limit doctors who can prescribe certain pain medication.

“We see more and more people entering our drug rehabilitation center suffering from problems with prescription pain medication,” according to Deborah Ross Executive Director of Gulf Coast. “It is great that the FDA is looking into ways to help slow the abuse of prescription pain medication; however, people with drug abuse problems are needlessly dying and need help now.”

Gulf Coast is nestled on the beach in Destin, Florida. The facility is an exclusive center that is neat, clean, and comfortable. With a staff/student ratio of 1.4 staff for every student, those who attend the program receive true one-on-one care, support and attention.

Debbie Ross also states, “It is essential that people receive help not only from the uncontrollable cravings created by the previous drug abuse, but also from the mental and emotional damage produced by the lifestyle of drug abuse. Our program is designed to free individuals from the cravings for the drug while teaching them how to live a happy drug-free life. At Gulf Coast, our 90% success rate means that there is hope and an immediate solution for you or your loved one’s substance abuse problem.”

Drug Rehab Program Improves Standards of Treatment

Several months ago when Gil Kerlikowske, the President’s new drug czar was introduced, there was a renewed interest by the government in improving the standards of drug rehab for addicts across the country.

At that time and addressing the challenges that Mr. Kerlikowske faced, President Obama said, “With escalating violence along our Southwest border and far too many suffering from [addiction] here at home, never has it been more important to have a national drug control strategy guided by sound principles of public safety and public health.

The president added, “We must demonstrate to our international partners, the criminal organizations threatening to undermine stability and the rule of law in those nations, and the American people, that we take seriously our responsibility to reduce drug use in the United States.”

Now several months later the war on drugs in Mexico and throughout the United States continues to escalate. The problem still rests in finding the right type of drug rehab program; a drug rehab program that actually can produce long-term positive results for addicts.

Fortunately, that drug rehab program still exists; and the name of it is Gulf Coast. Gulf Coast was started seven years ago by Randy and Deborah Ross, who were looking for the right type of rehab program for their son. Following numerous unsuccessful attempts and rehab programs for him, the Rosses knew that there had to be a program out there that achieved positive results for permanent recovery.

After years of research Randy and Debbie decided to open Gulf Coast, and converted their 10,500 square-foot beach home into the drug rehab facility. After seven years and with a 90% success rate, the results achieved through the Gulf Coast program have been astonishing.

“We know that we have found a better way and that people can recover from the devastation caused by drug and alcohol abuse,” says Debbie Ross, Executive Director of the center.

Gulf Coast have graduated several hundred people from their drug rehab program.

The False Sense Of Pharmacological Saftey

The results of a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, indicates that visits to the emergency room for oxycodone abuse rose 152 percent from 2004 to 2008. A recent survey of high school students found that more than 20 percent had taken drugs such as oxycontin, percocet, vicodin or xanax without a doctor’s prescription.

Many who have developed a prescription drug addiction begin simply by getting a prescription from their doctor. Developing drug addicts will justify their drug abuse by claiming that the drugs are prescribed and were acquired legally. Unfortunately, this false sense of pharmacological safety has led many to acquire a prescription drug addiction which has led to prescription drug overdoses and death.

Prescription drug addiction, in the United States, is at epidemic proportions. The negative stigma attached to a person with an oxycontin addiction is much less than someone with a heroin addiction; however, both addictions are deadly. Usually, after a period of time, the oxycontin addiction can lead to a heroin addiction. Oxycontin will sell on the street for as much as one dollar a milligram. Those suffering from oxycontin addiction will usually require more and more of the drug until they can no longer support their habit. This acceleration will sometimes transform oxycontin abuse into heroin abuse because heroin is cheaper and the high lasts longer. This conversion in drug addictions is a contributing factor to a nationwide rebound in heroin abuse.

Gulf Coast is a successful Florida drug rehab center located in Destin, Florida. Debby Ross, the executive director claims, “We have seen an increase in those seeking various forms of opiate addiction treatment. The majority of those with an opiate addiction, who attend our program, are usually struggling with prescription drug abuse.” Gulf Coast has also noticed an increase in those who started their drug addiction using prescription drugs and then later switched to heroin. Prescription drug abuse is at record levels. There are programs such as Gulf Coast that can help those suffering from prescription drug addiction. Unfortunately, much more work needs to be done to help people understand that, when it comes to prescription drug abuse, there is no such thing as pharmacological safety.

Gulf Coast Announces 300th Graduate

Gulf Coast, a world-class substance abuse residential drug rehabilitation facility located in Destin, Florida, announces the graduation of its 300th student. Gulf Coast was founded by Randy and Deborah (Debbie) Ross after undergoing multiple unsuccessful attempts with other rehabilitation centers trying to help their own son.

According to Debbie Ross, “We are excited and pleased to announce that we are actively contributing and working to do our part in helping people with one of society’s most threatening problems, substance abuse.” Debbie goes on to say, “Our facility is a state of the art residential center. We specialize in true one-on-one care so we can only accept a select number of people. To announce that we have helped 300 people and their families live drug-free is a proud moment for not only Randy and me, but for the entire staff at Gulf Coast.”

Gulf Coast is a long term non-twelve step program with a 90% success rate. Gulf Coast is licensed by the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families and is one of just a few centers that currently enjoy the department’s highest ranking of “exceptional.” Gulf Coast’s drug rehab program not only eliminates the physical cravings for the drug and/or alcohol, but also utilizes techniques that help repair the mental and emotional damage created by the previous drug and alcohol use.

“We are looking forward to our next 300 graduates,” claims Debbie Ross. “Everything we do here at Gulf Coast is designed to keep our students focused on the program and on the ‘prize.’ The prize is long-lasting recovery from the scourge of drug and alcohol abuse.”

Successful Drug Rehab in Florida Exceeds Expectations

After 4 unsuccessful attempts at drug rehab for their son, a Florida couple discovered Gulf Coast. This drug rehabilitation method worked. After achieving their own success with their son, the couple went a step further and opened their own addiction treatment on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

The Gulf Coast program gave Randy and Debbie Ross, the founders of Gulf Coast, their son back. Seeing the tremendous results of the program in handling drug addiction first hand, they opened their own drug rehab facility turning their own home in Florida into a beach front drug rehabilitation facility.

In converting their home to a drug rehab, the Ross’ raised the bar in drug rehab facility standards. The couple created a friendly, clean and aesthetic atmosphere with healthy, delicious, meals prepared fresh daily. Each room even has its own bathroom, TV and DVD player.

The real gem of the Gulf Coast center is their program. This is not a 12 Step drug rehab program. It is a program unique to itself that is tried and proven with over 44 years of effectiveness. The Gulf Coast program enjoys an over 90% success rate. Gulf Coast gets addicts off drugs and gives them the skills to stay off drugs. In fact, Gulf Coast graduates not only know how to communicate, but live clean ethical lives that help others and contribute back to their families and communities.

The Gulf Coast program provides drug addiction help beginning with withdrawing the addict from current drug use, handling the physical nutritional deficiencies created from drug use and removing drug residuals from their bodies. The program also has steps which help students regain control and come to a point where they can take responsibility, not only for themselves, but others as well.

At Gulf Coast they specialize in a direct hands-on approach. True one-on-one individual attention is given as their staff to student ratio is almost 1.5 staff to every student. The results of Gulf Coast’s application of the material are remarkable. As one student states,”…Today I have no words to really explains the difference in my life. The Gulf Coast program has taught me how to live again. Gulf Coast has restored my faith in myself and give me a peace and stability that can only be dreamt of…”

Gulf Coast offers not only the most effective drug rehabilitation program but also a peaceful beach environment to start a new beginning of a drug-free life. Simply stated by one addict, “Gulf Coast made me whole again. How do you thank someone for saving your life?”

Florida Drug Rehab Program Offers Best Success Rate

Gulf Coast is a residential Florida drug rehab program located in Destin, Florida. The Florida drug rehab program was founded by Randy and Debbie Ross after several unsuccessful attempts at drug rehabilitation with their own son.

With over a 90% success rate, the Gulf Coast drug rehab center is a tried and proven, get off and stay off drugs program. The Gulf Coast drug rehab facility is a 10,500 square-foot beach house on Destin Beach, Florida that was converted into a drug rehab center. The drug rehab facility houses a limited number of people and utilizes a true hands-on, true one-on-one approach to helping people overcome drug addiction.

There are many advantages to operating a drug rehab program that houses a small number of people and is “heavy” with staff. Besides offering one-on-one care and attention, this Florida drug rehab program can pay attention and respond to the “details” and individual needs associated with drug rehabilitation.

Gulf Coast is one of many Florida drug rehab programs that are licensed by the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families, but is just one of a few Florida drug rehabs that enjoy the department’s highest ranking of “exceptional.”

Residential Treatment: The Answer for Herion Addiction

According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), fourteen to fifteen percent of all residential substance abuse treatment admissions are for heroin addiction.

Many who suffer from heroin addiction cannot find a drug rehab center to adequately treat their heroin addiction. Most all drug rehab centers do not have a modality of treatment that rids the heroin addict from the physical cravings for the drug. There is, however, a drug rehab program with a drug treatment method that not only eliminates the drug cravings, but also teaches the one suffering from heroin addiction a new way to live. That drug rehab program is Gulf Coast.

Gulf Coast’s record of success with heroin addiction spans over a six-year period and their success rate is unmatched by any other drug rehab. Debbie Ross, executive director of Gulf Coast explains, “When people ask, what makes your drug rehab program so successful? I can never point to any one single item because our, and more important, our students’ success is a mixture of many things. Some of the reasons for our success include, the facility, which houses a limited number of people, true one-on-one care and attention, a program that helps to eliminate the physical cravings for the drug, being in a better position than most drug rehabs to handle the small ‘details’ associated with helping people overcome heroin addiction, etc.” Ross continues, “The bottom line is that our drug rehab program is effective and it works.”

Gulf Coast is a tried and proven get off and stay off drug rehab program. They have been helping people not only overcome heroin addiction, but other drugs and alcohol as well, and they can help you.

Flexible Drug Treatment Programs Are Effective

Drug and alcohol addiction and its related problems are seen by many as our society’s most urgent health and social concerns. Each year, about 100,000 deaths in the United States are related to alcohol addiction and illicit drug addiction. In the U.S., estimates of the total cost of drug addiction and alcohol addiction, counting health, crime, and lost productivity related costs, exceeds $500 billion dollars annually. These numbers, however, do not describe the negative effects drug and alcohol abuse has on public health and safety, loss of employment, failure in school, domestic violence, child abuse, etc.

Despite the staggering adverse numbers, substance abuse treatment lags far behind treatment for most chronic illnesses. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) concisely exclaims, “Drug treatment works.” NIDA also claims that there is no single treatment option that is appropriate for everyone, that treatment needs to address the multiple needs of an individual and not just the drug use, multiple courses of treatment may be required for success, and that staying in treatment for an adequate amount of time is critical for drug rehab program effectiveness.

Deborah Ross, executive director of a Florida drug rehab named Gulf Coast states, “My husband and I researched many drug rehab programs while trying to help our own son. Supporting the NIDA findings, we discovered that a drug rehab program needs to be flexible and not based on a set time frame, that the drug treatment program should have an operational focus on treating the entire person as well as the drug addiction, and that the drug treatment options should be customized to fit different individuals and their needs.” There are drug rehab programs that do offer various modes of drug treatment; however, most drug treatment centers offer one modality of treatment with a set time frame. To truly tackle the drug addiction problem in the United States, drug treatment centers should follow Gulf Coast’s example of offering customized drug treatment programs without set time constraints.

Gulf Coast is a Florida drug rehab facility located in Destin, Florida. With a 90.2 percent success rate, Gulf Coast is one of the most successful drug rehab programs in the world.

Prescription Drug Abuse: A Serious and Growing Problem

Most people in the United States take prescription drugs as prescribed. Approximately 20 percent of those who use prescription drugs do so without a prescription. In the United States, prescription drug addiction is an epidemic. Prescription drug addiction destroys lives, but there is hope.

Experts are unsure why prescription drug abuse continues to increase. The availability of prescription drugs and/or the assumption that they are more acceptable than “street drugs” are some of the reasons for the increase in prescription drug addiction. Other reasons for the increase in prescription drug abuse include online pharmacies, which make it easy to get prescription drugs, and the reality that doctors are prescribing more drugs than ever before. No matter the reason, prescription drug addiction kills.

Ahead of methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and others, prescription drug abuse is the second most commonly abused class of drugs. The most abused classes of prescription medications include pain relievers or opioids such as Lortab (hydrocodone), Oxycontin (oxycodone), Dilaudid (hydromorphone), and Demerol (meperidine); anxiety medication or central nervous system depressants including barbiturates and benzodiazepines such as Valium (diazepam) and Xanax (alprazolam); and stimulants for ADHD such as Ritalin and Adderall. Prescription drug abuse presents an exceptional challenge because of the need to balance the abuse associated with prescription drug addiction with the legitimate need for the medications.

Several options are available for effectively treating addiction to prescription drugs; however, some options are more successful than others. Debbie Ross, executive director of Gulf Coast which is a program that has proven to be successful in treating prescription drug addiction claims, “Many of those who are suffering from prescription drug addiction will claim that they have a legitimate reason for taking the drug. Unfortunately, no matter the reason, people who suffer from prescription drug addiction have a serious drug problem and need help.” Prescription drug abuse is a killer. Fortunately, there are drug treatment options available that can help those suffering from prescription drug addiction.
